In 2013, Hood was the world record holder with a time of three hours, seven minutes, and 15 seconds before conceding to Chinese policeman Mao Weidong the following year. This year, theU.S. Marine eclipsed the previous best time, held by Weidong, by more than 45 minutes.
The event helped raise money and awareness for the Semper Fi Fund, a charity for injured U.S. service members.
