DOYLESTOWN A program to provide eligible seniors with vouchers for local farmers' markets will return starting Friday, county officials announced last week.
The program, sponsored by the county's Area Agency on Aging and called the "farmers' market nutrition program," provides $20 vouchers to individuals and $40 to couples for people over 60 living in Bucks County who meet certain income requirements:
One-person households must earn $21,775 or less.
Two-person households must earn $29,471 or less.
For each additional person in the home, the threshold increases by $7,696.
The vouchers can used to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmers' markets, according to the agency. This article is from wwwphilly.comSeniors living in nursing homes or other facilities where meals are provided are not eligible, the county said.
Vouchers will be distributed at the following senior centers across the county from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays, starting this week, the county said: Benjamin H. Wilson Senior Center, Warminster; Bensalem Senior Citizens Center; Bristol Borough Area Active Adult Center; Bristol Township Senior Center; Central Bucks Senior Center, Doylestown; Easter Upper Bucks Seniors Inc., Ottsville (Vouchers here will be available on Thursdays, not Fridays); Falls Township Senior Center; Middletown Senior Citizens Center; Morrisville Senior Servicenter; Neshaminy Senior Citizens Center; Northampton Township Senior Center; Pennridge Senior Center; Upper Bucks Senior Citizens Center, Milford.
